Giant Slaying

When it comes to slaying giants, you need to realize a few things. The tools at your disposal are insufficient. That’s nothing new. It is your familiarity with these tools and your ability to wield and maneuver them that prepares you. It is your willingness to step out onto the field that puts you in position. And it is what or who you are placing your faith in that will deliver you.

At the ROC we don’t have the shiniest, best-looking, most expensive, or most imposing tools at our disposal. What we do have we wield well, and we have the willingness to continue to step out into the field. And there’s plenty of faith in what the ROC is and what we stand for.

Today the ROC threw its weight around and vanquished a big giant of 5 years of homelessness for a couple. We nailed it square in its ugly face!

This couple is now delivered, in their own words, into a new life, a new beginning, a life of security with a locking door, out of harm’s way of any more rising floodwaters, an opportunity to go back to work, improved health, reconciliation with family, more time with grandchildren, the ability to go to church together, the luxury of being clean, the strength to use their voice for the benefit of those they’re leaving behind today, to rebuild, to regather, to cook again, to rest, to breathe fresh non-smoke-filled air, into an apartment that they will make a home!
